I know Adam feels less intimidated and more comfortable in the environment provided by Aspirations, where he and his condition is accepted by both the excellent staff and the other members. I also feel much happier, knowing that Adam has a `haven’ to go to, where he is accepted for who and what he is, without anyone passing judgement on him.
Ryan is a key member of the group and helps the new members get involved. He has matured and has even spent time with other members outside of the group.
It is the only time I can get Luke out of the house; if he didn’t come he would be socially isolated. He doesn’t see other kids outside of school or the youth club. As far as I’m aware this is the only youth club specific to children with Asperger’s and high functioning autism.
Kallum was the most improved pupil at his school last year, he has always been the same but since Aspirations went into the school to speak to staff, they have a better understanding of him, and that’s why they think he has improved, because they understand him better
